The Chicxulub impactor ended 75% of all species. We have mapped 95% of near-Earth objects above 1 km — but hundreds of thousands of smaller, untracked ones could still wipe out a country. NASA's 2022 DART mission proved we can deflect an asteroid. We need a permanent, globally-coordinated detection and deflection grid before the next big rock arrives.
